The Nebraska Brass announces it's 2001-2002 concert season with a series of five concerts to be presented in Lincoln, Omaha and surrounding areas.  Please not that this year's concerts will be presented in different venues.

PRESS RELEASE: April 2002

We are proud to announce the continuation of the Thursday Night Jazz Series. This weekly performance features a variety of local jazz ensembles. The Thursday Night Jazz Series will be held at P.O. Pears, located at 322 South 9th Street, Lincoln, NE. This is entertainment at its best for the whole family! The groups will play from 7:30 – 10:00 p.m. each and every Thursday night with two 15 minute breaks at 8:15 and 9:15 p.m.

Admission is $5 for adults and $4 for students with valid I.D.

Food and full beverage service is available.

  Press Release: Lincoln Municipal Band: Summer Series (06/14/2001)  

PRESS RELEASE: June, 2001

 

The Lincoln Municipal Band announces its summer series of nine free concerts in Antelope Park.  Concerts will be held every Sunday night at 7:00 p.m. from July 1 through August 26, 2001.

 

The band is pleased to announce the appointments of conductors Bob Krueger Music Director, and Terry Rush, Assistant Music Director.  The leadership of these dynamic conductors will ensure an exciting and rewarding upcoming season for the band.  (See complete biographies below.)

 

Bob Krueger is a  graduate of UNL, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and a Master of Music degree.  Mr. Krueger has been a music teacher in the Lincoln Public Schools since 1985.  He was the instrumental music teacher at Southeast High School from 1985-1995. In 1989 he was named the nation's outstanding young high school band director by the American School Band Directors Association.  He is currently teaching elementary instrumental music at Maxey and Beattie schools, and directs Jazz Ensemble I at Southeast High School

  Press Release: Nebraska Jazz Orchestra: Nebraska Jazz Camp (5/26/2001)  

2001 Nebraska Jazz Camp

The Nebraska Jazz Orchestra announces its 2001 Nebraska Jazz Camp, to be held July 23-27, on the campus of Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln.  The campus is open to all musicians levels 9th grade and up on a first come, first-served basis.

Camp instructors include:  Scott Vicroy, woodwinds; Brian Grasmick, trumpet;   Todd Thatcher, trombone; Tom Harvill, piano; Andy Hall, bass; and Joey Gulizia, percussion.  Dean Haist serves as Camp Director.

Faculty will serve as clinicians, instructors and performers throughout the week.  Classes and activities will include performances by the Nebraska Jazz Sextet, studies in jazz improvisation, jazz theory, jazz literature and videos, small groups and big gand jazz ensembles.

Tuition costs:  Resident (room, board & tuition)  $345;  Commuter (tuition only)  $195.  Full and partial scholarships are available based on financial need.

  Press Release: Lincoln Civic Orchestra: At the Movies (4/11/2001)  

The Lincoln Civic Orchestra announces its third concert in the 2000-2001 Concert Season.  The concert is entitled “At The Movies” and will be featuring several vocal soloists: Nicole Carpenter, Kanoa Greene, Anna Lackaff, Joe Lee, Amber McQuiston, Leslie Pieper, and Greg Taylor.  The concert will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2001, in O’Donnell Auditorium on the campus of Nebraska Wesleyan University, located at 50th and Huntington streets in Lincoln.  The concert will begin at 3:00 p.m.  Questions regarding access to the multi-story facility should be directed to the Nebraska Wesleyan University Department of Music at (402) 465-2268 in advance of the event.

April, 2001:  PRESS RELEASE

Celebrating its 25th Anniversary Season, the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra proudly announces its fifth concert of the 2000-2001 season with a program entitled Latin Jazz, featuring special guest artist Doug Hinrichs, percussion, and featuring Derek Molacek, trombone, winner of the 2001 Nebraska Jazz Orchestra Young Jazz Artist Competition.  This concert is sponsored by Williamson Auto Center.  Additional support provided by Executive Travel.

The concert will be held at the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra’s new home, the Cornhusker Hotel, 333 S. 13th Street, Lincoln, on Tuesday, April 17 at 7:30 p.m.  Priority seating for season ticket members only starts at 7:00-7:15 p.m., and general admission seating begins at 7:15 p.m. for tickets purchased at the door.

NETV is recording the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra as part of their Back Stage Pass program series.  Back Stage Pass is an ongoing series of local musicians and musical groups with a focus on poplar music performances.  This regular one-hour program can be seen on NETV on Fridays at 11:00 p.m. and again on Saturdays at 12:00 midnight.  The Nebraska Jazz Orchestra will feature a variety of big band selections, including many compositions and arrangements written specifically for the NJO by area composers and arrangers.
