NEBRASKA BRASS PRESENTS: "Brass & Pipes"

Join the Nebraska Brass for the exciting third concert series of the season, "Brass & Pipes." The Nebraska Brass will present a memorable concert that showcases the power of brass quintet music joined with the majesty of the organ, featuring guest artist C. Richard Morris. The Nebraska Brass will be performing this concert series in Beatrice, Omaha, Grand Island, and Lincoln.

"Brass & Pipes" will include selections such as "Quintet No. 1" by Thom Ritter George; "Fanfare" by C.S. Lang, arr. Rich Mays; "variations on 'America'" by Charles Ives, arr. Rich Mays; and "Prelude and Trumpetings" by Myron J. Roberts.

C. Richard MorrisC. Richard (Dick) Morris, a native of Philadelphia, was a full-time church musician for over 50 years and served a number of large churches throughout the United States. Between 1959 and 1972, he completed his B.M. Ed and M.M. degrees at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and served as Music Director at the Wesley Foundation Chapel (later known as Cornerstone), Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, and First-Plymouth Congregational Church. In 1972 he began his work serving churches elsewhere. After retiring in 2006, he and his wife, Nancy, decided to return to Lincoln-her hometown. Dick is active in the American Guild of Organists serving on the executive committee for the Lincoln Chapter, on the board for the Lincoln Organ Showcase and as Director for Professional Development for Region VI. He also serves on other community boards and is a staff accompanist for Nebraska Wesleyan University in addition to being a substitute organist and choir director. Dick and Nancy have one son, Rick, who lives in Seattle, Washington.

Tickets are available at the door at each concert or in advance by contacting the Nebraska Brass business office at (402) 477-7899 or nb@artsincorporated.org. The Nebraska Brass is also offering the Season Brass Pass for the 2010-2011 season. The pass entitles you to a total of six (6) admissions, which may be used to attend any concert in any city. Bring five friends with you to one concert, or use your six admissions to attend any combination of performances. The cost is: Adults $65 and Seniors $50. Season Brass Passes are offered to new subscribers at 50% off the regular price. Students are always admitted free.

The Nebraska Brass, founded in 1987, includes members Dean Haist, trumpet; Brad Obbink, trumpet; Richard Ricker, horn; Mark Mendell, trombone; and Ken Kielniarz, tuba. In addition to performing five sets of concerts each season, the Nebraska Brass provides educational outreach to elementary school students through the Nebraska Brass Education & Community Outreach Project.
