| Nebraska Brass concerts to be featured on NET Radio |
| Dear Friend of the Nebraska Brass, During January, "Nebraska Concerts," NET Radio's weekly series of fine music performed and recorded on Nebraska's stages, rings in the New Year with an encore performance from the Nebraska Brass. "Nebraska Concerts" airs on NET Radio Sundays at 1 p.m. CT. The Nebraska Brass presents two concerts on the Sunday, January 16 edition of "Nebraska Concerts." First is "American Brass," featuring mostly brass music by American composers such as John Cheetham, Anthony Plog, Gwyneth Walker, Aaron Copland, Scott Joplin, Leonard Bernstein, Duke Ellington, Kurt Weill and Henry Fillmore. The second concert, "Nebraska Brass & Friends," features a wide variety of composers, including music by Claude Le Jeune, Georges Bizet, Joseph Horovitz, Aaron Copland, Claude Debussy, W.C. Handy, Scott Joplin and Duke Ellington. "Nebraska Concerts" is broadcast on NET Radio, a service of NET. Dave Hughes is producer; Genevieve Randall is scriptwriter and host. In addition to its concert presentations and educational outreach program "Brass Goes to School," the group performs at a variety of events across the state each year, including wedding and graduation ceremonies, business and government receptions, and church services. This nonprofit organization participates in the touring programs of the Nebraska Arts Council, the South Dakota Arts Council, and the Mid-America Arts Alliance. Comprised of musicians with a wealth of experience in both classical and jazz idioms, the members of the ensemble are also accomplished teachers of all levels, ranging from elementary to college. They are active in music education, having conducted workshops & masterclasses with students of varying ages, teaching and encouraging excellence in brass performance. |
