For this first concert series of the 2010-2011 season, the Nebraska Brass will perform in Geneva, Omaha, Bellevue, Hastings, and Lincoln. Season Ticket Information: The Nebraska Brass is also offering the Season Brass Pass for the 2010-2011 season. The pass entitles you to a total of five admissions, which may be used to attend any concert in any city. Bring four friends with you to one concert, or use your five admissions to attend any combination of performances. The cost is: Adults $65 and Seniors $50. Season Brass Passes are offered to new subscribers at 50% off the regular price. Students are always admitted free. The Nebraska Brass, founded in 1987, includes members Dean Haist, trumpet; Brad Obbink, trumpet; Richard Ricker, French horn; Mark Mendell, trombone; and Ken Kielniarz, tuba. In addition to performing five sets of concerts each season, the Nebraska Brass provides educational outreach to elementary and high school students through the Nebraska Brass Education & Community Outreach Project. Steve Helfand has spent the past 14 years studying and performing on drum set. Steve began studies with local legend, Washington DC drummer Walter Salb, and continued working with renowned performer and educator Steve Fidyk while a student at the University of Maryland. Following college, he toured for six months as drummer with the world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra before accepting a position with the "Noteables" Jazz Ensemble, a component of the Air Force's Heartland of America Band at Offutt AFB, NE. In addition to his major teachers, Steve has studied with such luminaries as Jim Chapin, Ed Soph, John Riley, and Allison Miller and performed at venues such as Blues Alley, Twins Jazz, the Bohemian Caverns and the Kennedy Center Millenium Stage, Washington DC; Preservation Hall and the French Quarter Festival, New Orleans LA; the Glenn Miller Birthplace Fesitval, Clarinda IA; and the Whitley Bay Jazz Festival, "Bridge" Jazz Bar, and the 100 Club, United Kingdom. |
