The NEBRASKA BRASS announces their March series concerts in their 2002-2003 Season:


“Rhythm & Brass”

Friday, March 21, First Presbyterian Church, 840 South 17th Street
Lincoln, NE – 7:30 pm**

Saturday, March 22, Calvary Christian Church, 10100 Cedar Island Road
Bellevue, NE - 7:30 pm**

Sunday, March 23, Trinity United Methodist, 511 North Elm Street
Grand Island, NE - 3:00 pm*


“Rhythm & Brass” is the title of this fourth series of concerts, which will include the following selections: “Dance Suite” by Leonard Bernstein, “The Earle of Oxford’s March” by William Byrd as arranged by Keith Snell, Scott Joplin’s “Sunflower Slow Drag”, “Frost Fire” by Eric Ewazen, Percy Aldridge Grainger’s “Shepherd’s Hey” as arranged by Michael W. Allen, and Gwyneth Walker’s “Raise the Roof!

Joining the Nebraska Brass on this series is percussionist Jason Varga. Jason is a University of Nebraska, Lincoln graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. He has played with many groups such as the Omaha Symphony, Lincoln Orchestra Association, Nebraska Jazz Orchestra, Nebraska Chamber Orchestra, First Plymouth Brass Ensemble and Quintet, and the Lincoln Municipal Band. He has been teaching private lessons for 15 years and is currently a timpanist at First Plymouth Church.

*Single admission prices for Grand Island are: Student, $3; Senior Citizen, $8; Adult, $10.

Members of the Nebraska Brass include: Dean Haist, trumpet and Executive Director; Brad Obbink, trumpet; Richard Ricker, french horn; Mark Mendell, trombone; John Thomason, tuba.
