Lincoln Municipal Band Directors
Music Director - Bob Krueger
A graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (B.M.E in 1984 and M.M. in 1994), Bob Krueger has been a music teacher in the Lincoln Public Schools since 1985. He was the instrumental music teacher at Southeast High School from 1985-1995, where his ensembles received many awards and were selected to perform at state music conventions four times. In 1989, he was named the nation's outstanding young high school band director by the American School Band Directors Association. He is currently teaching elementary instrumental music at Maxey and Beattie schools and directs Jazz Ensemble I at Southeast High School. In the spring of 1999, the Jazz Ensemble I under the direction of Mr. Krueger was selected to perform at the Lincoln Center as one of 20 finalist bands from tapes sent in from over 150 bands from 38 states in the Jazz at Lincoln Center's Essentially Ellington Competition. In addition to his post as Music Director of the Lincoln Municipal Band, Mr. Krueger also serves as the Assistant Conductor for the Lincoln Youth Symphony, and as the Music Director for the Monday Night Big Band. He has also served as Concert Band Chair and was one of the founders of the State Concert Band Festival for the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association. An active performer, Mr. Krueger performs and records regularly with the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra and the Lincoln Municipal Band, including a performance with the NJO at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. He also has served as a clinician and adjudicator throughout the Midwest. Mr. Krueger is a member of MENC, NMEA, IAJE, NSBA, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Pi Kappa Lambda, and Phi Beta Mu. He and his wife Julie (who also teaches instrumental music in LPS) have three children who all enjoy making music.

Assistant Director - Terry Rush

Terry R. Rush is in his eighteenth year as Instrumental Music Director at Lincoln High School. Terry's nationally and internationally recognized ensembles have achieved superior ratings each year during his tenure. In 1992, the Lincoln High Symphonic Band became the only band in Nebraska to ever be invited to compete at the National Adjudicators Invitational Concert Band Contest in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1994, the 180 piece Lincoln High Marching Band marched in the Orange Bowl's "King Orange Jamboree Parade" and was also selected to lead the "Christmas Pageant Parade" at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.  The Lincoln High Marching Band also rang in the New Year of 1998 by performing in the "London New Year's Day Parade" in London, England. In December of 2000 the Lincoln High Marching Band won the Grand Championship at the Culligan-Holiday Bowl National Events Marching Band Contest.

In May of 2001 the Lincoln High School Symphonic Band won its fifth Grand Championship at the "Worlds of Fun Festival of Bands" in Kansas City, Missouri, out-performing more than 60 bands from four Midwestern States.

Mr. Rush is in his 29th year with the Lincoln Municipal Band and his 27th year with the Lincoln Symphony.
