about us

The Capital Jazz Society (CJS) was incorporated as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit arts organization in January of 2002. The CJS was created by musicians, for musicians to produce and promote a variety of jazz events in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Two of the major activities produced by the CJS are the weekly Monday Night Big Band performances and the weekly Thursday Night Jazz Series. The CJS also purchases new music for the library of the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra.

The CJS is a membership organization and annual dues are $15. Members are entitled to one vote on matters before the members at the annual meeting. The Board of Directors is charged with managing the affairs and furthering the mission of the CJS.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Capital Jazz Society or would like more information, please contact us here.
