2003 Nebraska Jazz Camp


The Nebraska Jazz Orchestra announces its 2003 Nebraska Jazz Camp, to be held July 21-25, on the campus of Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln. The camp is open to all musicians 7th grade and older.

Faculty will serve as clinicians, instructors and performers throughout the week. Students will take part in a full week of intensive master classes, including Jazz Improvisation & Theory, Standard Jazz Literature, and Electronic Music. They will also participate in big bands, combos, and jam sessions, as well as attend local jazz performances and fun social events off-campus.

Family, friends, and community members are welcome to attend the final concert on Friday, July 25, at 1:30 pm in O’Donnell Auditorium on the Nebraska Wesleyan University campus. This concert will showcase the students’ enhanced jazz skills acquired during the week-long camp.

Camp Instructors and Guest Artists include: Dean Haist, Camp Director; Ed Love, Camp Music Director & woodwinds; Scott Vicroy, woodwinds; Kerry Strayer, baritone sax; Brian Grasmick, trumpet & music technology; Brad Obbink, trumpet & instrument repair; Pete Madsen, trombone; Ron Cooley, guitar; Tom Harvill, piano; Tom Larson, piano & jazz history; Andy Hall, bass; and Joey Guilizia, percussion.

Registration Deadline: Monday, June 23, 2003. A $30 late fee will be assessed after this date.

Tuition costs: Resident (room, board & tuition) $395; Commuter (tuition only) $225. There is a non-refundable deposit of $75 with application. A limited number of full and partial scholarships are available based on financial need.
