The Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company (LMBC), a nonprofit organization, was founded in 1989 from two previously existing organizations:  The Lincoln City Ballet and the Ballet Midwest Dance Company.  The mission of the Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company is to create and promote quality dance experiences, both pre-professional and professional, which provide participation, entertainment, education and training.

In 1985 the Ballet Midwest Dance Company presented its first Nutcracker consisting of excerpts from the popular ballet and using a small cast of twenty dancers.  Over 20 years later, as the LMBC’s principal production, The Nutcracker has become an annual community holiday event with over 200 cast members, professional guest artists, and the Nebraska Symphony Chamber Orchestra all collaborating to produce a full production at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Lied Center for Performing Arts.

The Company sponsors a number of educational opportunities for young dancers including a two-week summer camp, guest professional seminars, masterclasses, and the Backstage at the Ballet program in cooperation with the Lincoln Midwest Ballet Guild.  The LMBC also presents spring productions that involve many dancers from the community.  During the Spring of 2006, LMBC presented the ballet, “Snow White,” at Nebraska Wesleyan’s McDonald Theater.  For more information about any of these programs click on the corresponding links, or contact the office at (402) 477-8446 or email us.
